Important: Troubleshoot Mac Startup Issues. If Visere Captura crashes immediately at startup, it’s usually caused by a conflict with another camera-control application, a misconfigured settings file, or a license file issue.
1. Common Causes
If Visere Captura crashes at startup, the most likely causes are:
- Conflict with another camera controlling software (often crashes inside the camera SDK).
-
Wrongly configured settings files (typically
.iniand.jsonfiles). -
Wrong or corrupt license file (the
tutumlicense file).
2. Check for Conflicts With Camera Software
Visere Captura may crash if another application is trying to access or control the camera at the same time. To troubleshoot, disable camera-related software from starting automatically.
Disable camera software at login (macOS)
- Click the Apple menu → System Settings…
- Search for Login Items.

- In Open at Login, remove/disable any camera controlling software.
- In Allow in the Background, disable any camera controlling software there as well.
- Restart your computer to ensure all background processes are closed.
- After restart, confirm no camera-controlling apps are running.
- Launch Visere Captura again.
Tip: Potential camera-controlling software includes Lightroom, Canon/Nikon/Sony utilities, and any other tethering/camera-control tools. For testing, consider temporarily disabling Adobe applications too.
If Visere Captura still crashes, continue to the next section.
3. Reset Misconfigured Settings Files
A misconfigured settings file can cause a startup crash. Resetting the settings forces Visere Captura to regenerate clean defaults.
Locate the settings folder

- Open Finder.
- Click Go → Go to Folder.
- Enter:
~/Library/Application Support/DMMD/VisereCaptura
Compress and remove the settings files

- Select all
.iniand.jsonfiles. - Right-click and choose Compress (this creates a ZIP for troubleshooting).
- Delete the original selected
.iniand.jsonfiles. -
Do NOT delete the
tutumlicense file. - Restart Visere Captura.
Recommended: If Visere Captura starts after this reset, please email the compressed ZIP file to support@pictomic.com. These “bad” settings files help us debug the root cause.
4. Troubleshoot a Wrong or Corrupt License File
In some cases, a corrupt license file can cause Visere Captura to crash at launch. Use the steps below to regenerate your license.
Regenerate the license file
- In Finder, navigate to:
~/Library/Application Support/DMMD/VisereCaptura
- Rename the
tutumfile totutum.old. - Restart Visere Captura and request a new Tutum license file when prompted.
- Email support@pictomic.com and mention you resent a license request due to a suspected corrupt license file.
- Import the new license file once issued.
If Visere Captura continues to crash after this step, contact support.
