Understand the Visere Captura License

How To Articles › Licensing

Applies to: Windows & macOS | Updated: October 2025

Visere Captura licensing is designed to be straightforward: with your initial purchase you receive a lifetime license for the core version, one year of free upgrades and technical support, and one year of full Pro Features access.

1. License Overview

When you purchase Visere Captura, you receive a lifetime license for the core version available on your purchase date, plus one year of free upgrades and access to all Pro Features. You can continue using all core functionality indefinitely—your core software will never lock or deactivate. However, Pro Features will deactivate automatically, and you will no longer be able to install new versions, if your maintenance license is not active.

Your initial purchase includes:

  • One year of software updates and new releases
  • One year of live technical support
  • One year of Pro Features access
  • A lifetime license for all core features (everything not labeled "Pro")

Terminology: Purchased licenses are also referred to as concurrent licenses.

2. What Maintenance Includes

The maintenance license extends your benefits for the chosen term (1, 2, 4, or 5 years).

Active Maintenance Provides:

  • All updates and new releases
  • Live technical support (email, phone, chat, WhatsApp)
  • Access to all Pro Features

When Maintenance Expires:

  • You retain all core features released before your expiration date
  • Your core software continues functioning normally
  • Pro Features deactivate until maintenance is renewed

3. How Pro Features Work

Beginning with Visere Captura 2.0, certain advanced capabilities are offered as Pro Features. These require an active license because they rely on premium processing or cloud-enabled services.

Current Pro Features (Version 4.0):

If your maintenance expires:

  • Pro Features deactivate
  • All core features continue working as usual

Core functionality is never disabled. Only Pro Features require an active license. Core features include everything not labeled "Pro."

4. What Happens When a License Expires

If you choose not to renew maintenance, Visere Captura continues running normally for all core features. Pro Features, however, are disabled.

You Keep:

  • Use of all core features included with your purchase
  • Access to all core updates released before expiration
  • Access to the Pictomic Articles

You Lose:

  • Access to future updates, improvements, and bug fixes
  • Live technical support
  • Pro Features such as Background Removal Pro

5. License Transfer Rules

Each Visere Captura license is tied to a single user and a single computer.

Transferring to a New Machine

If you replace or upgrade your computer, contact Pictomic Support for a free license transfer. Transfers are available whether your maintenance is active or expired.

Multiple Users on the Same Computer

Each user profile requires its own non-concurrent backup license. A single license file cannot be shared between separate logins.

6. Real-World Licensing Example

Here’s how licensing works in practice:

Purchase Date: January 1, 2025

  • You receive updates, Pro Features access, and support until January 1, 2026
  • You can continue using all core features indefinitely
  • If you do not renew, Pro Features deactivate on January 1, 2026

Renewing Later

If you decide to renew in July 2028 with a one-year maintenance license:

  • Your new upgrade and support period becomes July 2028 → July 2029
  • Pro Features reactivate for one year
  • You regain the ability to install new versions
  • You receive live technical support for the duration of the renewal

7. Pro Tips

  • Stay active if you rely on new cameras, OS compatibility, or frequent improvements.
  • Renew early to avoid interruptions in Pro Features.
  • Plan ahead for headache free and best value by purchasing a 4 or 5 year long term maintenance agreement.
